Many countries are re-evaluating nuclear energy for climate, security, and baseload/firm-power needs. This page is background context for the ReCore engineering concept — not a claim that ReCore is already a national programme or commercial product. See Why?.

Building and expanding

Nations with established nuclear programmes are increasing or planning capacity, for example:

• France: life extension and new EPR-class units for low-carbon baseload and independence
• United Kingdom: large projects (e.g. Sizewell C) and SMR development interest
• Poland, Czechia, Hungary and others: new-build or expansion debates to reduce coal dependence

Planning and research

• China & India: major reactor construction; interest in closed fuel cycles and fast reactors in long-term strategy
• USA: federal support for advanced reactor demonstrations, including metal-fuelled sodium concepts related in class to ReCore’s building blocks

Evaluating options after phase-outs

Societies that exited or paused nuclear often revisit the role of firm low-carbon supply as costs and reliability become clear. Specific national timelines change quickly; treat headlines as snapshots, not forecasts.

ReCore’s relevance in this landscape is as a systems architecture hypothesis: modular SFR + industrial materials + metal-fuel recycle path, with explicit TRL differences between components and full FOAK integration.
